Cyd Lash Academy provides an alternative high school setting, which uses a team approach, a variety of program models and support services to meet the unique academic, emotional and social needs of their students. Students must be deemed eligible by their district’s IEP team for this setting.
Upon entering the Academy, students are placed in a treatment program that is best suited to meet their academic, behavioral and emotional needs. Each classroom is self-contained, and generally consists of twelve students and two teachers. Students are assigned a therapist with regularly scheduled sessions designed in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). A consulting psychiatrist, prevocational coordinator, substance abuse counselor, art therapist and school nurse, as appropriate, provide additional student support. The underlying philosophy of all CLA programs is based on the Circle of Courage.
Students who have demonstrated significant growth by meeting IEP benchmarks and their program expectations may be eligible for honor status. When honor status is maintained and upon the agreement of CLA staff, student, parents and home district, student may begin taking classes at their home high school.
Students who meet their district's qualifications for graduation while in attendance at Cyd Lash Academy may participate in the Academy's graduation ceremony as well as the ceremony at their home school high schools. Graduating students will receive a diploma from their home high schools.
